Weekly Writing Prompt Response: 9/4-9/10 (2016)

Writing Prompt ResponseHa. I pick this gorgeous picture of a Lighthouse that is super inspirational for this weeks writing prompt… and I’m really expecting it to jilt me straight into writing.

Instead, I have a super busy week and don’t post very much at all… let alone work on this writing prompt.

>_> So. I’m taking a leaf out of my own advice book, because I won’t not do a writing prompt response.

Welcome to a Saturday Session of Amanda Can’t Write Poetry!

A ghost lives in that lighthouse

And it is her haunting gaze that lures in the sailors

Not her song

But her broken eyes

And the pain that shines out through their iridescence

She calls to them with her pain

And brings them to the edge of the structure

Their boats crashing

Their hands scrambling for shore

Only to find the lighthouse door locked

From the outside.

Heavy inspiration for this came from the song Lighthouse by The Hush Sound.

If you’ve responded to the writing prompt, make sure to link back to me! I love posting your responses to go along with my own!

I’m getting so close to being finished with this list, and I’m actually a little sad about it. It’s been a lot of fun! But! As usual, write a poem or story with the following list!

71. Obsession
72. Mislead
73. I. Can’t.
74. Confrontation
75. Mirror
76. Broken
77. Testament
78. Drink
79. FUCK
80. Words

I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with! Also, I decided to just do my January Writing Recap on Friday when I do my normal recap blogs! I can’t wait to fill you guys in on how it went, and I can’t wait to see what this prompt helps you to come up with!

Until then!

Thirty Day Creative Writing Challenge, Day 4

Day Four of the Thirty Day Creative Writing Challenge. Can’t say it’s something that I’ve done in a while!

Day 4: A poem using the words: blue, mistrust, half, twang

Poetry. Hrm. Specified poetry. Even more hmmm. Okay. Here goes?

Cerulean blue

That is the color of her gaze

A wanton gaze that has learned mistrust

From half truths

And promises broken

That Cerulean gaze

Does not realize

The ache in my heart

That twang of self doubt

That I have

And only when she looks at me

Ahem. Very short. Very much about a novel I’m editing. I don’t do poetry often, especially directed poetry with key words. Maybe I should more often – poetry is a great expression of the soul!

Until next time, keep reading and writing!
