So, here we go with Camp NaNo (she said, posting her day 1 report a day late. But, alas… that’s just how it goes sometimes. The good new is, I cranked out my words. I set my goal pretty small – 15,000 words for the month. I’m sure I’ll pass it up (I hope I will), but I figured that would be good… since I’m pregnant and in the process of moving before the end of April.

I’m still super excited to try!

I did make a decision about what I wanted to do for Camp though – I was really willy nilly about how I wanted to tackle it. At first, I thought I’d do rewrites on my novel Cerulean Darkness… and then I thought, “No, I don’t want to rush rewrites and end up having to completely rewrite the rewrites… maybe I’ll just finish my novel Limbo during NaNo!”

And then I thought… “But, I don’t really want to rush through that, either. I’d rather have something that I don’t have to rewrite 100% after I’m done with it.”

So, I sat and I wondered for a minute what I wanted to do… and then I realized that it didn’t have to be so complicated. It’s CAMP, damn it. You’re supposed to have fun at Camp, and I have full intentions of having fun with what I’m writing. I’m using this as a platform to get me back into the habit of daily writing, and I’m not going to make it something that stresses me out so that I don’t want to do it.

So, I decided on 30 writing prompts, one for each day. I’ll probably be posting some of them up here for you guys, and I’ll certainly post some of the prompts up (from day 3 on, since I’m not gonna be able to today) so that anyone who is struggling with how to get your words for camp can follow along! The point is to get yourself writing, and the point is to hit your goal! So, I think that’s what we need to do, and I think that we all need to just have a lot of fun doing it! I know that I, for one, am actually excited about the prospect of getting things started. I’m not even going to sweat it if I don’t finish the prompt – I’ll hit the word count that I can hit for the day, and I’ll leave it. If nothing else, I’m going to have the beginnings to 30 pretty rad stories, and I’m super fine with that.

I’d love to hear how Camp is going for you guys, with day 2 closing out. I’m at right around 1000 words so far, 500 a day. I’m happy with it. I’m really satisfied.

Let me know what your projects are, or if you wanna follow along with the writing prompts every day! Regardless, I can’t wait to hear about it!

So, until next time! Keep read and writing, and keep being the awesome people that you are!

All right, look at me, actually getting my update on time today! I did just get my writing finished for camp – I’d written a lot for the day already, but it was in RP and other such ventures, so it didn’t get to count towards my camp. However, I just finished a 15 minute word sprint that netted me 1230 words for my Cerulean Darkness revisions, so that topped me off for my Camp words, and I knew that I could start this update! So, turn your eyes to my count below!

When Flowers Fall – 3128
The Second Realm – 1516
Serial Killer – 500
Cerulean Darkness – 5716
Misc Short Stories – 836
Untitled – 865

July Camp Total: 12561/30000

Tada, I’m still right on track with where I’m hoping to be! And since I’m still participating in a crawl with my friends, I think that I’ll get past 13000 words today, so that I can be ‘caught up’ technically, as far as what the day is. Since I want to take the 24th off, I need to get a little ahead. I’m also going to be in San Francisco for most of the day this Saturday, so I need to get a little ahead for that as well. We will see if I can actually manage to bank a few words up.

In a completely non-related note (which is related, still), I went on a fat walk today. I was playing Pokemon Go, and I thought that going on a walk would help me clear my head and get reset for writing… and I was right! As soon as I got back from my walk, I did that fifteen minute word war with my friends, and the words came much quicker and easier than they would have otherwise. I really do think that the game is something fantastic – I might actually write a blog about it, because it’s helping me with my writing. Exercise can really help – getting out and clearing your head can really help.

So, for today’s tip, I’m going to recommend just that. If you’re feeling stuck, or blocked… go out and get some fresh air. If you’re like me, and you hiss at the feeling of the sunlight on your skin xD Wait until it’s starting to turn Twilight, and go then. It feels amazing, the air is fresh and cool… and it can really help you to get into the right frame of mind for writing. And Hell, if you can somehow manage to catch a Kadabra, Nidoran, and hatch an egg while you’re doing it… more the better!

Until then! Keep reading and writing, and keep being awesome!

Oh, dear me. I didn’t post this yesterday. I wrote my NaNoWriMo Tips Blog, and I certainly wrote an update blog for yesterday… but I didn’t post it? I can’t even find it in my drafts. So, instead of writing a combination for Day 13 and 12, I’m just going to go ahead and rewrite my Day 12 update. Yes, I’m stubborn like that. So, let’s jump straight into my stats, shall we?

When Flowers Fall – 3128
The Second Realm – 1516
Serial Killer – 500
Cerulean Darkness – 4486
Misc Short Stories – 836
Untitled – 865

July Camp Total: 11331/30000

So, as you can see, my Cerulean Darkness rewrites have started to take over as the thing that I’ve worked on the most… and I’m not sad about it. I really would like to finish this second draft(ish) of this novel, because there will come a point in my life when I screw up the courage to try to get published.

Someday.

In the distant future.

But not any time soon.

Honestly though, it feels really nice to be reworking the writing, polishing it and improving upon it. It’s nice to know that I am still interested in it, after the few years that it’s been since I wrote it. I’m also really enjoying working on When Flowers Fall – that story is such a mess. I’m going to have to re-edit and properly plot it out sometime after this month, but I’m going to get as much as I can written on it first, if only to make it easier to start on the actual first draft whenever the time comes.

Of course, my NaNo writing isn’t the only writing that I’ve been doing this month. I soared over 30,000 words a few days ago, and I’m at 37,000 now. I’m hoping to get to 40,000 by the end of today. I can see my 1 million words in a year goal in sight, if I just keep up with the pace of my writing for right now. That’s all that I have to do! And that’s all that you guys have to do to fulfill your goals ❤ Just keep the finish line in sight, and know that you can do it. Even if you feel discouraged, even if you feel like giving up… keep pushing forward. The reward that you’ll get for winning in the end is so worth the effort that you put into it. I promise you this.

So, keep pushing forward for Camp! We’re almost halfway through, and you can get there.

I will see you all later today with my actual update for my NaNo. I hope that you’re all having a fantastic Camp so far. I’d love to hear how you’re doing!

Until then! Keep reading and writing, and keep being awesome!
