MilWordy Challenge!

I’m going to try to do do Kate Cavanaugh’s MilWordy challenge. Oooo, what’s that you ask? Well, I just so happen to have a video that will explain exactly what it is, handy and dandy!

So, once you’ve watched that, you’ve garnered the fact that this is a challenge to write one million words in a year. I thought about doing this before, but I got distracted.

I’m honestly crazy for trying right now, what with the fact that I have kids who distract me so frequently that I know it’s going to be really hard for me to do.

But… I figure… even if I only get half of it? Even if I only write 500,000 words in a year.

Dude, that’s 500,000 words in a year. That’s a big whopping amount of words.

I have a few things that I’m going to use to get through this – first of all, I’m going to let the people on my writing Discord (INSERT LINK HERE) know what I’m doing. I think that having them keep me accountable is going to be a great way to get things going.

Secondly, I have a pretty cool spreadsheet that I plan on working with, tweaking, and hopefully making perfect for the situation. I really enjoy my stats, writing down things. Seeing how I’m doing.

And third… I’m going to be telling you guys all about it. I’ll probably update y’all once a week, and then one overall update for the month. I figure that the best way for me to do this is to just make sure that I’m accountable on as many venues as possible.

So… I’m also going to have it on my Instagram (INSERT LINK HERE) if you guys wanna to follow along there. There will probably be short videos as well, on that front.

So, if you want to follow along or participate with me, just check out my discord or Instagram! I can’t wait to see what we can get accomplished in 12 months!

Until next time, y'all!
Keep writing and writing, and keep being awesome!

Weekly Writing Update

2016-01-22

So, I’ve been keeping up extremely well with my writing for this week! And I finally took a little picture of my calendar as well!

12606803_10207604886374047_1241303262_n

So. Here are the two methods that I use to keep myself on track and motivated! My desk calendar is – of course – on my desk! For the calendar, I can specifically write down which stories I work on, and where my words came from. It’s a bit of a mess, and I’m looking to keep it more organized for next month, but I’m still really happy with it.

As far as my words go, I’m already up past 58k, and quickly zooming towards 60,000. I’m just really pleased with how well my writing has been going. Even with some of the emotional issues that I’ve been having, it’s still really successful. Sometimes I end up getting my words at 2am when I can’t sleep…

But words are words are words!

I’ve also started posting my daily writing prompts, like I want to. The responses to those will go up either here, or on my patreon! So please, feel free to click a link to that at the bottom of this post! Also, I want to start featuring other forms of art on here, probably on Sunday or Monday? Poets, artists, photographers, sewing, etc. Anything that is an outlet for creativity. We are all one big community of people trying to get noticed – it starts by us helping one another! So if you have someone to recommend, or want to be featured yourself, let me know!!!!

Until next time, guys! Keep up the creativity!

Writing Prompt 1/20/2016

Writing Prompts

So, onward with the daily writing prompts! I like trying to keep them novel center if you have one! If you don’t, try to use this to  lay the foundation for future characters! It’s so important to develop who you’ll be writing, after all. Or well, in this case, you’re doing a little less developing and a little more…

Well, you’ll see.

For the prompt today… kill a character. Good, bad, hero, villain – in the end, they all die somehow.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

NaNo Day 29 – Victory is Sweet

2015-11-29_zps1i9kjyi3

Sorry about the sparse blog posts. I’ve been recovering from a very deep and awesome writing coma. I’ve come out the other side of it, and I can say that I feel triumphant in NaNoWriMo! At 94,321 words, my first draft of RipTide is complete. Tomorrow, I’ll have pictures of the pretty, printed out version of it.

I have to say, winning NaNo this year was very nice. As I mentioned in earlier posts, it’s been a very healing process for me. Usually, writing is work – fun work sometimes, but still work. This year, for the first time, it was just about my emotions and letting it out. I don’t know if that’s gonna be conducive for as good of a first draft as usual, but we will see. The point is, I finished it! After I give it a break, I’ll go back to editing it. I need some decent critique partners. x.x I just don’t know where to look for those.

For the people who are still working on their novel – if you’re almost there or behind… you’re amazing. You’re doing something that no one else can do. Look around you, at the first ten people you see (unless you’re at a write in >_< don’t be cheeky), how many of those people can say they wrote 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 or 50,000 words? Probably not very many of them if any. You’re amazing ❤ You’re doing a wonderful job. Keep it up. Even if you think you can’t win, there’s still a chance that you can. I had a 15k day first day! You can always do it! And even if you don’t, just the act of writing as you have is an astounding accomplishment. We’re all winners.

Past NaNo, I wanted to give some projections of what my blog is going to look like. I’m still going to try to write every day. I’m going to keep spreadsheets of how I do each month, so I can reflect on if there are high points of writing for me (other than November, when I turn into a monster). I plan on doing Daily Prompts on here, and Weekly Writing Updates – I’m not sure what day I’ll schedule that for. Maybe Monday, or Sunday. I’m not sure. I also want to still try to crank out writing advice as much as possible – I really appreciate all of the positive comments and thanks that I get for that. You’re all amazing, I’m just telling you things from my own, personal experience.

So! I’ll talk to you all soon. I need to get to working on my next project today if I can. 😉 Tell you more about that on Tuesday when NaNo is over!

Until then, keep reading and writing!

October Horror Writing Prompt – Prompt #11

Hey everyone! How are your prompts going so far? Also, I am curious about something and I’d love to hear from you about it? How do you prep for NaNo? Other than just writing prompts (if you do them) what else do you do to get yourself ready for the month?

Another question – November aside, how would you guys feel if I posted a writing prompt every day? Let me know! For now, let’s get to the writing prompt for today!

Are you ready for another fun one? Here is a List Of Phobias! Pick one or two (or five or ten if you want!) and make a story out of it! Delve into fear, and don’t be afraid to use the big words!

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Until next time, guys! Keep reading and writing!
