Synopsis

OSKAR

After a little mishap in an alleyway with CCTV, my public image needs fixing. Oops?
It might have been a stunt to get the attention of Lane Pierce, San Jose’s new PR manager, but I didn’t realize what the consequences would be when I did it. I’ve got Lane’s sole focus now in all the wrong ways.
He has designated himself as my babysitter, and while it’s fun messing with him, being bound by curfews and rules has never worked for me.
The more I push back, the more I realize what’s really on the line. My career, my future, and maybe even my heart.

LANE

Being appointed head of San Jose’s PR department was a dream come true … until I met Oskar Voyjik.
He may be San Jose royalty, but with the stunts Oskar’s been pulling, the team owner is down to his last thread of patience. Which puts me in the firing line. If I can’t turn Oskar’s entitled party boy image around, we’ll both be shown the door.
I have free rein to do whatever it takes, and it turns out whatever it takes is Oskar.
Only, the more entangled our lives become, the more I see the Oskar he’s buried deep down. The one who hurts, the one who’s sensitive and kind, the one … the one I think I’m falling for.
I can’t have him and my career, and if rumors of the professional lines I’ve crossed get out, it’s not only my dream job I can kiss goodbye; I’ll be disgraced from professional sports completely.

Excerpt

It’s not my fault I was left unsupervised. Or that Lane’s guys trusted me to do as I was told. Everyone from the PR department has been really slow to learn their lesson.

But Lane’s certainly figured it out. Or figured me out. I’m not sure which it is yet, but living with him is going to be fun. So fun.

Starting now.

When my doorbell rings, I drop my sweats to the floor so I’m completely naked and then run a hand through my hair to make it look messy in that I’ve been fucked six ways till Sunday kind of way.

Yet, when I answer the door, I don’t get the reaction I expect. Or want.

There’s no exasperation, no large sigh. In fact, Lane’s not even looking at me.

He’s looking up at the house, which is only a few years old. It’s boxy and modern but lacks all the frills of what people expect a professional hockey player to have. I’m only renting because I’m not dumb enough to think my antics will be tolerated forever; I assume San Jose is only a short stop on the ever-changing trades the NHL like to do. I’ve been with San Jose for almost three years now; before that, I was in Texas, and before that, I was with Columbus. I get passed around more times than a bottom in a gang bang. And hey, I will never complain about being that guy.

I don’t want to lay down roots. It’s not me. I get antsy if I’m in one place for too long. My talent as a hockey player keeps getting me contracts, but my PR nightmares are what get me traded.

After an insulting amount of time, Lane looks at me, and there’s the reaction I wanted: a loud sigh, a set jaw that’s unshaven and has speckles of gray filtered through the dark scruff, and his intense brown gaze locked on my face. As if he’s picked that one tiny, singular freckle I have on my cheek to stare at so he’s not tempted to look anywhere near my junk. Or my full chest of tattoos that’s a fucking work of art.

“Your house is unexpected,” he says.

“My house or my dick?”

“Definitely the house. The dick is … typical.”

I act offended. “Excuse me, there is nothing typical about my dick at all. It’s a phenomenal specimen of masculinity and pleasure.”

“Uh-huh, sure. Is that why you had to tattoo a phrase that translates to orgasm above it? To remind your partners of what they’re supposed to do?”

“I didn’t realize you’d taken that much notice of my tattoos.”

He does the grown-up version of rolling his eyes—directing a derisive, unimpressed look my way, gaze still firmly set on my face. “I’m your PR manager. You don’t think I had to approve those naked shots you did at the beginning of the season? We actually had issues finding one that hid that specific tattoo.”

“What’s wrong with my tattoo? It’s advertising what to expect.”

Outside, a neighbor walks by and glances up as Lane follows my gaze and turns. His shifting means I’m no longer blocked from view and ends up giving them an eyeful.

I wave. “Hi, Mrs. Huxley!”

“You might want to put some clothes on for once, Oskar. It’s a bit cold out here.”

My mouth drops, and I ask Lane, “Did she just say my dick is small? She obviously needs glasses. Poor old bat can’t see properly.”

“I can’t believe she didn’t even blink at you being naked.”

“Oh, they’re used to it. There’s one rule in my house, and that’s no clothes allowed. Welcome.” I step aside to let him in. “You may enter once you get rid of that awful sweater and suit pants.”

“Not going to happen.” Lane pushes past me. “And while I’m here, your rules are void. I make the rules from now on.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

“Rule number one: no calling me daddy.”

“Yes, Daddy.”

He already looks like he wants to kill me.

“Okay, fine, I won’t call you daddy. But I’m not calling you Mr. Pierce either.”

“Lane is fine. If you put some goddamn clothes on.”

Betting You

Betting You by T. Ashleigh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m such a fan of enemies to lovers, so as soon as I saw this book I knew I needed to go ahead and snag it up! And maybe it’s just the kind of movies I watched growing up, but the plot of this book was too fun to pass up.

Ryan and Hudson have such an interesting dynamic. I found myself pretty interested in how they were going to get to their HEA from the get-go, and I’m glad to see that it wasn’t just super easy. (I personally think when the events that transpired in this book transpire, a good amount of making up for it and saying sorry is pretty necessary, so it’s good to see that happening. So if that’s something you’re worried about, don’t!)

I enjoyed watching the way both boys kind of unfolded through the telling of the story… it was set up in a way that you fell in love with them falling in love, even though you knew that the author was going to break your heart before it was mended back together.

This is also a world where we’re going to get to see what’s going on with the other characters, which I’m super excited about. Can’t wait to see what comes next.

Lunatic <3

Lunatic by Onley James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was one of my most anticipated books out of this series (especially when I learned Archer’s LI was none other than Mac!) and it didn’t disappoint!

Honestly, since Archer was introduced, I’ve been waiting to get his backstory, to get the real him. I knew there was so much more than the drunken pirate we saw in the previous books, and I wasn’t disappointed! And then you throw in the fact that Shep’s brother is in here? Mmm, it was honestly just chef’s kiss and I couldn’t wait to devour it.

As always, Onley James also delivered on the plot side of the book. I live for the romance, but I’ll die for any plot she lays out. I’m always so intrigued and drawn in when it comes to what mystery they have to solve, what’s going on, who is trying to do what to who. This entire series has delivered on this every single time without miss… and honestly, this one? This book did such an amazing job, and it left me with so many places I want to go as far as spin off series!

Things I loved:
Archer and Mac. ❤ Scooch those two right up on to one of my favorite couples.
The rest of the Family. I’m honestly never sick fo seeing them, I want more books with them forever. I subscribed to Patreon so I can devour every bit of content that exists about them.
*Bringing in the Elite Protection Services books! I can’t with how much I loved the cross-over. It’s so amazing when an author is capable of pulling their worlds together so smoothly and seamlessly… and hoooboy ❤ Delivered.

Overall, as always, I recommend this book. I recommend this series. I recommend that you run as fast as you can and you read everything Onley James has ever written. I’m never disappointed!

And as a side note… the SET UP for the final book? I’m deceased, I swear. AMAZING.

Inevitable Destruction by Marie Ann

Inevitable Destruction by Marie Ann

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book really took me by surprise in a very good way. I’ve been reading a lot of fluff in anticipation of getting to this one, because I heard that it was going to be a doozy, and I wasn’t wrong.

This book really deep dives into trauma and the way it can make people behave, act, think, and feel. The author does an amazing job of making you root for both characters, even though they weren’t both the ‘good guy’. Everett and Dominik are both extremely realistic in the fact that they carry their flaws with them and it influences the way they act throughout the novel.

If you’re worried, don’t be. There is a hard, hard, hard-fought HEA. You just have to wade through the intensity to get to it!

What I loved:
The characters. Rhett and Dominik are honestly just chef’s kiss complex.
The way it made me have to take breaks to breathe. That’s a good thing. I promise.
*That hard-fought HEA.

Waiting On Forever by E.M. Lindsey Review

Waiting On Forever by E.M. Lindsey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really wasn’t sure how this series could get better, but this book delivered above and beyond. I came into Waiting On Forever straight off of Shades Of Lust (another high recommend from me), and I honestly could not put it down. Jet was such an interesting character, and you can really tell that E.M. Lindsey put in work with their research on how to write him in an authentic voice. And it shocked me when I started tearing up within the first few chapters because of how sweet Taylor is and how he deals with the children that he photographs.

The more I read this series, the more I want to keep reading this series. Seeing characters who represent the SDSs really gives you an ability to delve into humanity in a unique way that has me chomping at the bit for how the other books in this series are going to unfold. The author gives such a duality to the man and the sin that they represent, and I think it’s a really genuine reflection on people and their wants and desires and how those are a part of all of us. It makes the characters feel so well written and so tangible and realistic in my opinion.

Taylor and Jet’s relationship is also just so sweet to me. It’s nice to see representation for a character who isn’t 100% cut and fit and tall and perfect in Taylor and his self-proclaimed Dad Bod. It’s even better to see someone who has gone through something hard and doesn’t get over it magically just because they found their love interest. There’s a natural progression of trust and understanding that develops between the two of them, and their connection is really made special because of how they handle Taylor’s insecurity and Jet’s work.

As always, the book is really SW positive, and I’m here for that as well. Overall, I honestly just loved it. The romance was perfect, and while there was conflict it didn’t overwhelm the story as a whole — when I can pick up a book and the humanity and emotions, feelings and development of the characters is the center of the storytelling, I’m always left feeling satisfied.

So, if you’re looking for a fast, charming, emotional read? This is the book for you! I can’t wait for the next in the series!

Shades Of Lust by E.M. Lindsey – Review

Shades of Lust by E.M. Lindsey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read so much that it’s hard for me to say that books have a unique concept that I can enjoy, but that’s exactly what happened with this novel! The entire imagining of the Tower is just so cool, and seeing all the different characters/sins who work there is giving me excited reader vibes for what is coming in the series.

And, of course, that tone was set with this book. August and Stone are honestly such a wonderful couple to read about. It’s always amazing to see characters with things that are different portrayed properly, and the things that make these two different are the things that really bring them to life. Stone is shockingly sweet, and my entire heart goes out to August with his anxiety.

All in all, it’s a super satisfying story with an amazing concept, and it has me wildly excited to check out the rest of the series!

Mad Man Review!

Mad Man by Onley James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review, and I am so happy that I was given the opportunity.

When I tell you I loved this book, I really wish I had hours to gush about it. As book five in this series, I keep finding myself stunned and delighted by the way Onley James continues to expand and improve on the universe she’s so cleverly crafted with these amazing psychopaths and the men they love.

I can honestly say that between this book and Headcase, the dynamic of the Murder Twins, Felix, and Zane might be my new favorite of the series. I’m floored with the skill it takes to make two dynamics so different and yet so perfectly complementary of one another that you can see how well the puzzle pieces fit together. If there was a book about Asa, Avi, Zane, and Felix, I’d buy it on the spot.

And for this book, giving no spoilers… can I just say that it was everything that we’ve all been waiting for since we first saw Avi and Felix interact with one another back in Moonstruck? Their chemistry is off the charts, their interactions are amazing, and watching their relationship grow was so satisfying. Felix is such a soft little marshmallow, and Avi is so perfect for him. They fit together in a way that is so satisfying! I couldn’t get enough of every sweet (and spicy…) interaction between the two of them and how Avi slowly works his way into Felix’s heart.
I can also say that the whole mystery factor of this book (because Onley James delivers not only a killer romance — ha, get the joke? — but also a satisfying side story) was well written and satisfying to watch play out. As always, I was rooting for our team of psychos to take out the big bad with Callie’s help. It’s amazing to see more of the Mulvaney family interacting together. The more they grow, the better they are!

Overall, the book was amazing. 10/10 for steam, hilarious banter, and giving us just enough that we’re dying for the next story. I’m hitting that pre-order button on Lunatic right away!

I can’t wait until the next installment in this series!

2022! Start it off Write!

I know, I know. The title is pretty cheesy. Also, I know, I know… I haven’t really been around much for the last little bit, have I?

But here I am, back and in action! This particular post is going to be a few things! First of all, I’m just going to go ahead and put my little resolutions so I need to be accountable for them. In 2022, I want to read 200 books, and I want to get Teeth and Claws and My Muse (and potentially Love in Fractions) self-published! I’ve honestly been dragging my feet and making excuses for why I haven’t done it… so I need to hop to.

My Writing Server is hosting a contest for the month about New Year, starting off right! So I wanted to go ahead and make a writing prompt for people who needed a little push in the right direction. Since the contest is open to poems, songs, short stories, fanfics, etc, I wanted to keep it kinda general. So I thought some word choices would be great!

Finally, I’d love to hear about what your goals for the new year are! What do you want to write? How many books would you like to read? Let’s get going and get the year started off right!

Until next time, y'all!
Keep writing and writing, and keep being awesome!
